All I want for Christmas is… a bunch of beauty products! The holiday season is a wonderful time, filled with delicious treats, shiny decorations, and family time. However, for many beauty aficionados worldwide, Christmas can also mean limited editions, beauty-themed Advent calendars, November sales, and wish lists.
Cosmetics and beauty products were also one of the most popular contents for Advent calendars, otherwise traditionally filled with edible goods, which goes to prove that the impact of the beauty industry keeps on growing.
Beauty and gifting go hand in hand in the United States
In the United States, retail sales over the holiday season were forecast to reach over 970 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, and a good share of these expenses is allocated to Christmas gifts. With the beauty and personal care industry gaining constant traction all around the world, it is no surprise that many gifts involve cosmetics, toiletries, perfumes, and much more. Indeed, as of 2024, about 31 percent of U.S. shoppers planned to purchase cosmetics and beauty products as a gift for other people.A closer look at European consumers
U.S. consumers are not the only ones who intended to purchase beauty items during the holiday season. A 2024 survey showed that nearly 45 percent of Polish shoppers planned to buy beauty products during the November sales, the United Kingdom and Switzerland both followed with a share of 35 percent. As a matter of fact, cosmetics and perfumes were on top of the list of the most popular Christmas gifts for adults in Poland. Cosmetics, perfumes, and body care also took the first spot on the wish list of French consumers in the same year.Spotlight on France
France is the home of many successful beauty companies, and one of the countries mostly associated with the cosmetics market. In 2024, around 40 percent of French women planned to gift beauty items for Christmas, a much higher share compared to men.
